Whilst I'd love to be one of those people with a wardrobe full of staple pieces which can be effortlessly styled in lots of different ways, in truth I'm too indecisive to commit myself fully to one specific style. As I touched on in my last outfit post, one of the things which I love the most about fashion and shopping in general is being able to be a bit experimental every now and then, and as much as the idea of having a wardrobe consisting of basic pieces which are easily mixed and matched is appealing in a practical sense (fewer clothes= more space!), I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I'll always be far too much of a chameleon for that. Whether it's vintage inspired pieces, eBay purchases, or pretty prints, having lots of eclectic pieces in my wardrobe is something which I love- and it's always great to delve back in and rediscover old favourites too, as I did a little while ago:
Trousers- c/o F&F
Bag- c/o Next
This sort of combination is one which I seem to be returning to again and again of late. Basic, loosely tailored pieces in the shape of a favourite blazer from Zara, teamed with my much worn (and much loved!) F&F trousers. This blouse is a fairly recent purchase and is something which I just couldn't resist- the unusual shape and bold pops of colour are perfect for adding a little bit more depth to static dark pieces, and it's the ideal lightweight layer for this oh-so changeable weather which we seem to be enjoying at the moment. Another splash of colour here came in the shape of this amazing Next bag- picked up at their press day a few weeks back. A real summer essential in the making, it's just about the perfect size for me to cart about all of my day to day essentials! And, alas, these shots were not snapped outside of my front door- but a few weeks back during Chelsea in Bloom- how amazing are the hydrangeas?!
