Now that October is upon us, thoughts are inevitably turning towards the end of the year and the festive season. Whilst Christmas might seem like a long way off yet, you can bet your bottom dollar that it will arrive before you know it- and this year I've promised myself that I'm not going to be a last minute Lucy as far as present shopping is concerned, having already put pen to paper and come up with a list which I'm determined to stick to. Soon enough the shops will also be full of party outfits (although if we're honest, we'd all much rather spend Christmas in our pyjamas, wouldn't we?!), and with this in mind, the lovely people at Duo have set a very special challenge- to come up with your dream festive outfit:
Polka Dot & Tulle Dress, Chloé via Net-a-Porter/Gold Bib Pegasus Necklace, Stella & Dot/A Christmas Carol Book Clutch, Olympia Le Tan/Lip Colour in Crimson Noir, Tom Ford via Selfridges/Bloom Slipper Pumps, Duo/A Cut Above Nail Polish, Essie/Stacking Rings, Monica Vinader via Net-a-Porter
If there's one premium piece which is well and truly at the top of my fantasy shopping list this season, then it's this dress from Chloé. Although black isn't traditionally considered the most festive of colours, it's undoubtedly an absolute classic, and the polka dot effect here also adds a refreshing edge which is the perfect representation of Chloé's quintessentially modern aesthetic. This necklace from Stella & Dot is something which I've spied on Aisling time and time again, and which is a gorgeous accent piece- statement yet not overpowering and a dream addition to any outfit. With the festive flavour in mind, this clutch from Olympia Le Tan is the perfect character filled little nod to Christmas, and evokes a lovely hint of winter tradition.
In terms of a bold outfit statement, you can't really beat a vibrant pop of lip colour, and this shade from Tom Ford's much coveted cosmetics line is a real high end seasonal treat, as well as a classic for any makeup collection. If you're a regular reader, then you'll know that I generally tend to avoid high heels at all costs- even for special occasions. Whilst this is more often than not due to my accident prone tendencies, I'm also a huge believer in fashion being comfortable, so 99.9% of the time you'll find me happily walking along in flats. With this in mind, this pair of slipper style shoes from Duo are the perfect practical alternative to skyscraper heels for the party season, and ideal for taking an outfit from daytime to evening too. For a little touch of festive sparkle, look no further than Essie's polish in A Cut Above and this gorgeous Monica Vinader ring!
