As regular readers will be well aware, as well as having a serious penchant for floral prints, I'm also something of a dress fiend. With spring now well and truly here, I'm starting to steer my wardrobe away from the jeans, trousers and woolly knits which have comprised my winter staples in favour of a selection of pretty frocks. The humble dress really is something of a failsafe for me when the weather warms up, and the selection which I've already got in my wardrobe has proved really versatile from season to season- something which is especially important given how unpredictable our weather can be. Whether you're looking for day dresses or designer dresses, I think it's always handy to have a pretty broad selection at your fingertips (just in case of emergencies, of course!) so when Max Studio got in touch with me a few weeks ago to introduce their new season collection, I was really impressed by the sheer variety of pieces which they have on offer :

The dresses which I've picked for this edit are a selection which I think are perfect for this season. The bold geometric print of the jersey dress makes it a really trend-driven piece, and the fabric is really practical for summer in the city- this is definitely a frock which I think would be perfect to wear to work during the warmer months. I adore the relaxed silhouette of the Silk Side Draped Dress, and the subtle contrasting print adds a really interesting edge. The draped detailing also adds a really feminine feel, and I think this dress would prove a really versatile addition to any summer wardrobe. Not long ago, I posted about welcoming in the spring with a burst of bright colour, and can think of nothing more appropriate than the sunshine yellow of the Silk Chiffon Dress. Again the flyway fit adds a really romantic feel, so this style would prove a real failsafe for a summer wedding, garden party or posh picnic.
As far as wardrobe staples go, you can't really get more trustworthy than the little black dress- a real 'rescue me' piece if you're struggling to put together an outfit or just want to take things back to super chic basics. This sleeveless design is the epitome of effortless dressing, with the cutout detailing adding a high-end feel, and the draping evoking the perfect touch of summer evening glamour. Finally, white is a colour which is synonymous with the summer, but one which can prove quite tricky to carry off in terms of practicality. For a special occasion, or even if you're lucky enough to be going away on holiday, then the Sleeveless Fit Flare Dress really is something of a staple. The textured flower motif is perfect for the new season, and the classic shape makes this another really versatile piece- ideal for the daytime styled with a pair of sandals and a beach hat, or dressed up for the evening with some statement accessories.
Is the dress your go-to piece for the summer? And what do you think of the pieces which I've selected?
